Who we are

CDLResume.com is a resume creation service for United States commercial driver license (CDL) holders and professional truck drivers. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what control you have over it.

Information you give us

To build a resume you provide information about yourself. That information is personal data, and some of it is sensitive in an employment context, so we treat it accordingly.

• Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, city, state and ZIP code, and optionally a LinkedIn or website address.
• CDL information: license class, issuing state, years of experience and optionally an expiration date.
• Endorsements, certifications and training details.
• Employment history: employers, job titles, locations, dates and descriptions of the work you did.
• Education history.
• Optional safety and compliance answers. You can decline to answer any of these.
• A job description, if you choose to paste one for tailoring.

Information we collect automatically

• A randomly generated session identifier stored in a cookie, so your work is saved between page loads. It contains no personal information.
• A salted, irreversible hash of your IP address, used only for abuse prevention and rate limiting. We do not store raw IP addresses.
• Your browser user-agent string.
• Referral and campaign parameters (UTM tags) so we can understand which advertising works.
• Basic usage events such as which step of the builder you reached and whether a purchase completed.

How we use your information

• To generate, format and deliver the resume and documents you asked for.
• To process payment through Stripe and to record your order.
• To provide access to your purchased downloads.
• To prevent abuse of our free generation allowance.
• To respond to you if you contact support.
• To understand, in aggregate, how well the service works.

Artificial intelligence processing

Your resume content is generated using the OpenAI API. The information you enter into the builder is sent to OpenAI for the sole purpose of writing your resume, and is returned to us and stored in our own database.

We use the OpenAI API under terms that do not permit your data to be used to train their models. We do not send your information to any other AI provider.

Who we share information with

We share the minimum necessary with a small number of service providers.

• Stripe, to process payment. Stripe receives your email address and payment details. We never see or store your card number.
• OpenAI, to generate resume text, as described above.
• Cloudflare, which hosts the application, database and file storage.
• Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, if you have not blocked them, for aggregate traffic measurement. These receive usage events, not your resume content.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not sell, share or license your resume to recruiters, carriers, job boards or data brokers.
• We do not publish your resume or make it publicly accessible.
• We do not use your resume as an example anywhere on this site.
• We do not send marketing email you did not ask for.

How long we keep your information

• Unpurchased resumes from anonymous sessions are deleted approximately 30 days after they were last updated.
• Generated files that were never purchased are deleted sooner, typically within a week.
• Purchased resumes and their documents are kept for approximately 365 days so you can download them again, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
• Order and payment records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes.

Your rights and choices

You can delete your resume and its generated documents at any time from the resume page. Deletion is permanent and immediate.

You can also email support@cdlresume.com to request deletion of any information we hold about you, or to ask what we hold. We will respond within a reasonable period.

If you are a California resident, you have the rights described in the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, to delete and to opt out of sale — noting that we do not sell personal information at all.

Cookies

We set one essential cookie containing a signed, random session identifier. It is required for the builder to save your work and for you to reach your purchased downloads.

If analytics are enabled, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel may set their own cookies. Blocking them does not affect your ability to build, buy or download a resume.

Security

• All traffic is served over HTTPS.
• Generated documents are stored privately and are only reachable through an authorised, short-lived link tied to your session or your paid order.
• Payment card data never touches our servers; Stripe handles it directly.
• Session identifiers are random and cryptographically signed, so they cannot be guessed or forged.

Children's privacy

This service is intended for adults holding or pursuing a commercial driver license. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
