About CDLResume
Professional resumes for professional drivers — written around your CDL, your endorsements, your equipment and your routes.
What CDLResume is
CDLResume.com builds resumes for commercial drivers. You answer questions about your CDL class, endorsements, the equipment you have run, the routes you have driven and your work history, and the builder writes a resume around what driver recruiters actually screen for.
It is built for one industry on purpose. A general-purpose resume builder does not know that a recruiter reads "X endorsement" differently from "H and N", that a DOT-verifiable employment history has different rules from an ordinary one, or that "reefer, 53-foot dry van, and flatbed with tarping" says more than "truck". Those specifics are the entire product.
Previewing your resume is free and does not require an account. Downloading the finished PDF or Word file is paid, and the price is shown before you start.
How the guides are written and checked
The advice pages on this site are written in-house and reviewed on a set schedule rather than published once and left alone. The review date is printed at the bottom of each page so you can see how current it is.
- Regulatory facts — CDL classes, endorsement codes, restriction codes, hours-of-service rules — are taken from the agency that sets them and cited on the page, not paraphrased from other resume sites.
- We do not publish invented statistics. Where a page needs a number, such as pay or employment figures, it links to the Bureau of Labor Statistics rather than asserting a figure of our own.
- Every example summary and example bullet point on this site is written by us as an illustration of wording. None of them describes a real driver, a real customer or a real hiring outcome, and each is labeled as an example where it appears.
- Pages are reviewed together on a fixed date so that a rule change is corrected everywhere it appears, not just on the one page someone happened to open.
What we are not
This matters enough to state directly rather than bury in the terms.
- We are not an employer, a staffing agency, a recruiter or a job board. We do not place drivers, forward resumes to carriers, or accept payment from carriers.
- We do not guarantee employment, interviews, callbacks, pay or any hiring outcome. A resume is a document; the hiring decision is not ours to make or to promise.
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, any state licensing agency or any trucking company.
- Content on this site is general information, not legal or employment advice. Regulations change — verify current requirements with the relevant agency or with your employer.
What happens to your information
Your work history is personal data and is treated as such. Resumes are stored so you can come back and finish one, generated files are reachable only through a short-lived authorised link tied to your session or your paid order, and unpurchased resumes from anonymous sessions are deleted automatically after a set period.
We do not sell your data, and we do not send your resume to carriers or recruiters. The full detail, including exact retention periods, is in the privacy policy.
Where our regulatory facts come from
- FMCSA — Commercial Driver’s License The federal overview of CDL requirements and how licensing is split between FMCSA and the states.
- 49 CFR 383.93 — Endorsements The endorsement codes and what each one requires.
- 49 CFR Part 383 — Commercial Driver’s License Standards The regulation itself, including class definitions, endorsements and restrictions.
- FMCSA — Summary of Hours of Service Regulations The driving and duty limits behind trip planning and on-time delivery claims.
- U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers Official pay, employment and outlook figures for the occupation.
